This adorable little munchkin with the bright blue eyes and the kissable cheeks was my first attempt a children’s portraits; it wasn’t exactly an easy job, but it was definitely a pleasant challenge. The shoot was located at Toogood Pond in Markham, on what turned out to be a gorgeous day. Emily’s parents brought her a little tricycle that she could ride on for the first part of the pictures, time I spent getting to know her and making her comfortable with me. Throughout the rest of the shoot, we played pick-a-boo, patty cakes, climbed rocks, and ran around until we had to go home. Whenever I asked for a picture, Emily would exuberantly say “Cheese!” as long as she could muster; and for a little while each photo I snapped was perfect, until she got bored of the camera, that is. Eventually, she’d continue to say “Cheese!” and smile, but without looking at the camera! Too cute for words, but as I said earlier, this made the picture taking a little bit of a challenge. That wasn’t too much of an issue, however, because obviously, we got some incredible shots during what felt more like a play session than a photo shoot.

I’ve done quite a few engagements to date, and each time I am surprised at how different the images turn out. Natalie and Emil’s engagement pictures, taken this year, turned out to be adorable and smiley. They were smiling even in their kissing pictures. Lori and Joe’s engagement pictures, taken nearly a year ago, are until today some of the most romantic images I’ve taken. Same location: Edwards Gardens, completely different mood to the images. I suppose it all goes to show you how much the dynamic between a couple really is visible to other people; visible enough to capture on camera. Take a look at the images below and tell me what you think. Then, if you haven’t already, take a look at the images from Natalie and Emil’s engagement, and see if you can spot a difference in the mood of the photos. I sure do.

As part of my spring cleaning process, I’ve been looking through my external hard drive to determine what I should keep and what I’m able to delete. I was looking through some older photos and found quite a few that I really liked. As I continue to look through my digital files, I’ll be uploading more pictures onto this blog and onto my Fine Art Photography blog.

These photos were taken in May of last year. Olivia, the young girl with the black hair, was having her Confirmation, and so just before the service, her mother Patty (seen in one of the pictures below), had me come over to take pictures of her with her brother and her friend Jessica.

Probably the most well known spot to shoot engagement photographs in Toronto is Edwards Gardens, and for good reason. I have done three engagement shoots here to date, and each time I come out with photographs more gorgeous than the last time.

These photographs are of my beautiful cousin Natalie and her fiancée Emil. It took us about a month before we finally wound up with a bright and sunny day, but the shoot was well worth the wait. The couple told me they had a lot of fun taking the pictures, which I think really shows in each of the images I took.

These photographs of Sophie were taken almost a year ago. Sophie’s family and I met up at Kleinburg, on what was luckily the first day of nice weather in Toronto of last year. Sophie was dressed in her first communion outfit, with her hair done up in curls thanks to her mother. She looked lovely. I still consider these images to be some of my best work.

I thought I would start off this blog with some of my favourite event photographs I’ve taken. These pictures were from a bridal shower that took place last summer.

One of my relatives wanted to give a special gift to Serene for her bridal shower. She hired me as the photographer to take pictures of the event, and of the beautiful bride-to-be. Below are some pictures of Serene with her family: cousins, aunts, a mother, a sister and a best friend. Her two brides maids (her sister and best friend), did an excellent job of organizing the party, and you can see some pictures of the interesting games they come up with near the bottom of this post.
